Nominator's project description

Professor Vasyutinskii was the first to observe experimentally the orientation and alignment of photofragments in molecular photodissociaton. In addition, he has performed a full quantum-mechanical treatment of the vector correlation of photofragments. His results represent a major step towards a full understanding of the dynamics of the process of photodissociation. During his stay as a Humboldt Awardee an improved experiment is planned yielding complete information on the photofragments and providing new insight into molecular structure and into the dynamics of photodissociation.
